Olivia M. Weaver
Hello, I’m Olivia Weaver, a digital media and web design professional with a deep passion for creativity, technology, and problem-solving. I’have completed a B.S. in Web and Digital Media at the University of Maryland Global Campus. During my academic journey, I have focused on skills in UX/UI design, game design, interactive design, publishing, interface design and more. Growing up in the game community, I also took a particular interest in Game Design I, Fundamentals of JavaScript, Augmented Reality Design I, and Virtual Reality I classes, in which I was only a two classes away from receiving a Game Design Certificate as well. My formal education is complemented by professional certificates inDigital Design, Web Design, and UX Design from the University of Maryland and Google. These credentials have helped me develop an understanding of both the technical challenges and creative geniuses of digital media.

Alongside my studies, I have built a diverse professional portfolio. Since 2019, I have proudly served as a Heavy Vehicle Logistics Specialist with the Texas Army National Guard. This role has taught me strong organizational and technical skills, where I created company logos and design projects for the battalion using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. However, most of my TXNG experience was spent managing logistics logs and supporting the Combat Aviation Brigade through cargo convoy operations. My ability to balance my military duties and my education shaped my work ethic and discipline, both of which I bring to my creative projects. I’m very grateful that after a deployment to Kuwait for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), COVID-19 relief missions, power grid crisis and hurricane missions, I am leaving the Army with two Army Commendation Medals, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, and a Humanitarian Service Ribbon.
In addition to my military service, I have been working as the Marketing and Media Manager for Eagles’ Landing Restaurant and Grill in Eddy, Texas, in a hybrid role since 2017. I have played a large part in managing the startup and marketing efforts that have turned the business into a million-dollar establishment throughout 7 years. My responsibilities have ranged from overseeing website design and digital marketing tasks using platforms such as WordPress, Wix, GoDaddy, Raydiant, and UKG Ready, to creating a brand identity that reflects the restaurant’s values and vision. One of my most rewarding achievements has been developing the restaurant’s social media presence, growing its following to over 3,000 people.

Throughout my work at Eagles’ Landing, I also led the development and implementation of business policy and an HR system, including training the owners and staff on new technology like the online payroll system UKG Ready and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) Alcohol Industry Management System (AIMS). Because of the hybrid aspect of this job, I was able to come on and off of National Guard missions and work abroad, which I am extremely grateful for. As you explore my portfolio, you’ll notice they have been a massive reason I am trained in real-life, consumer-client situations.
I also have experience managing projects where I have had to use both my creative and technical skills. One example is the development of the HR system and brand identity for Eagles’ Landing Restaurant and Grill. This involved extensive research on local demographics, photo editing, and design tools like Photoshop and InDesign, ultimately resulting in a cohesive visual identity for the restaurant. I am particularly proud of my ability to blend the restaurant’s vision with practical and impactful design elements, which has directly contributed to its success.
In terms of technical skills, I am proficient in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, C++, and C, along with game development tools like Unity, as gaming has been a large part of my personal life. Likewise, my design skills are supported by my proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD), Lightroom, and other essential tools. Additionally, I am experienced in using Microsoft Office 365, Meta Business Suite, Raydiant, and Google Workspace, all of which enable me to manage projects, with teams or stakeholders, efficiently.
Unity
When it comes to creating immersive digital experiences, Unity is an invaluable tool in the digital media industry. Known for its versatility, Unity empowers designers and developers to craft interactive 3D environments and real-time experiences, making it a go-to program for game design, simulations, and more. Its user-friendly interface and cross-platform capabilities make it easy to bring ideas to life, whether for mobile games, console experiences, or virtual reality applications. I had the pleasure of learning about Unity for almost a year, mainly because the video game sphere has been a large part of my childhood. However, I must admit, I would consider myself a beginner/intermediate user of C++.

As I look forward to career, I am eager to continue applying my knowledge and skills in UX/UI design, web development, and digital marketing. I am excited about the endless possibilities within the world of digital media, and I am always looking for new opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to innovative projects.
